Wilfred

A private, local-first personal assistant.

Wilfred is a personal software project built and run by one person for their own use. It runs entirely on its owner's own computer. It is not a product, not a service, and is not offered to the public.

What Wilfred does

Wilfred helps its owner keep track of their own day. It can:

read the owner's own Google Calendar and summarise what is coming up
answer questions about the owner's own notes and documents, which are stored locally
remember preferences the owner has explicitly approved

All processing happens on the owner's own machine. Wilfred uses a language model that runs locally; no conversation, calendar entry, or document is sent to any AI service.

Why Wilfred asks for Google Calendar access

To tell its owner what is on their calendar today, Wilfred has to be able to read that calendar.

Wilfred requests exactly one Google permission:

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly

“See and download any calendar you can access using your Calendar.”

This permission is read-only.

Wilfred cannot create, edit, move, delete, or respond to calendar events, and it does not request any permission that would allow it to.

It requests no access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or any other Google service.

Calendar data is read on demand, processed on the owner's own computer, and is not sent to any third-party AI service.

Privacy

Wilfred collects no analytics, serves no advertising, and has no public user accounts or server-side data store.
